I am a [w]Holistic Creative Arts Therapist and the owner of Create U., LLC, which provides holistic creative arts therapy to women of color in metro Detroit, Mi. As a therapist I specialize in helping women of color navigate through life’s transitions and traumas so that they can reclaim their narratives and embrace their joy. My approach integrates mind-body therapies, such as EMDR and DBT, with meditation, storytelling, divination, somatic/movement, creative expression, grief work, visualization, energy healing, eco-therapy, and creative self inquiry to aid my clients exploration of all the parts of themselves and how to be whole. I have had the pleasure of doing this particular work for the past 5 years, helping hundreds of women to authentically see themselves, others, and their experiences with new eyes while growing into their fullness.

I am also a Mother of 2 beautiful boys, ages 19 and 13.  My motherhood story has had several transitions from being a new mother, young mother, single mother, intergenerational mother, married mother, working mother, multi-child mother, student mother, momprenuer, and now an indirect mother as my 19 year old transitions into adulthood. Each one of these motherings have come with its own unique challenges and blessings, which required me to confront my own evolutions, the grief inherent to change, and cultivation of new pathways of my becoming. It is from this place that I offer an empathetic ear to hear the story of others’ motherhood journeys, the triumphs, the failures, the crippling losses, and the wonderous beauty. It is also from this perspective that I lead the workshop Color Me Happy: A creative exploration towards embracing Joy.
