Maria Novotny is an Assistant Professor of English at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Her research oscillates around the intersections of community literacy, health activism, and cultural rhetorics. The primary focus of this research centers on her community organization, The ART of Infertility, which is a traveling arts and oral history infertility storytelling project. Through the project, she curates stories of infertility in public spaces so as to demystify the stigmatization and cultural silencing of reproductive loss. In 2018, this project received the Night of Hope Award from RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association. Her work is listed on her website (www.marianovotny.com) and has been published in several health humanities and rhetoric journals.
