Alexis Matthews B.S. is an Honorary Research Fellow in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Alexis Matthews B.S., is an Honorary Research Fellow in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is the lead undergraduate research assistant for Dr. Vivian L. Tamkin, Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Health Disparities Postdoctoral Research Scholars Program. Ms. Matthews is responsible for coordinating two qualitative research projects as well as assisting in the writing of research manuscripts. Also, at present, Ms. Matthews is the founder of Project DREAM, a nonprofit, transitional program for Black/African American children and youth.

Ms. Matthews earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and a minor in child and family studies from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM). During her undergraduate studies, she obtained direct behavioral health training and experience working at Will’s Way Behavioral Psychology clinic as a registered behavior therapist. Ms. Matthews aspires to obtain her Ph.D. in counseling psychology and envisions practicing as a licensed psychologist. Using a scientist-practitioner trained lens, her professional psychology career goals include systematically examining the family structure and its overall impact on support and well-being in Black children and youth, within the context of trauma.
